What’s the best way to clean wood laminate flooring?
Posted by: | CommentsGot new flooring about a month ago. I’m thinking maybe laminate wasn’t a good choice. I live in the desert & the floor seems to always be dusty. I tried a swiffer vac but it seems to do a superficial job. And I learned quick that you can’t let the mop water dry on the floor because it will look streaked & dull when it drys.
Apart from a wallpaper stripper is there a good way of stripping wallpaper?

How do you remove dye from laminate flooring?
Posted by: | CommentsThe laminate floor in my bathroom has dye/paint on it and I don’t know how to get it off. The color came from the dye/decoration on a plastic bag that got wedged under a hamper and got wet. The ink transferred to the floor and now I don’t know how to get it off. The flooring is not the best, and I know that if I use a scrubby on it I’ll just damage the floor. Any suggestions? The floor is off white, so something that would bleach out the color without damaging the floor might work, but I don’t know anything like that either (regular bleach will not work). Thanks!
The problem is a lot of the brown paint has come off in patches leaving white paint underneath. Is there a way I can easily remove the brown paint?

I just finished putting laminate floor down and realized that even though I thought I had leveled all areas of the room, in one corner of the room, there is a spot that dips when walked on. Is there any way to fix this now that the flooring is already installed? Can something be placed underneath those panels to solve the problem? Or will it need to be pulled up so it can be leveled? What will happen if I do not level it? Thank you for your help!
I see a film on the floor and was wondering if anyone has tips, or could tell me what they use on their laminate flooring. The directions say not to get it too wet or use chemicals so I am afraid of everything!
how do I get the shine back to my new laminate flooring?
Posted by: | CommentsWe put laminate flooring thru-out our new house. They have done some cutting with a table saw and mudding some spots in the door frames and hall. I now have a floor full of saw dust and sanded off drywall mud on the floor. I tried using a damp washcloth (rung out as much as I could, so it didn’t drip) but there are now smear marks on the floor and the shine is gone. What can I do it get it back?
What’s the best way to remove wallpaper from the 1940′s from a plaster wall?
Posted by: | CommentsI would like to remove some ugly old wallpaper and repaint. I’m afraid to paint over the wallpaper, I’d rather strip it that risk having it bubble and mess with the removal process later. I tried DIF on a different wall, and it only worked because of the shear amount of pressure I used and it took forever. Is there any products that can remove the old style wallpaper and adhesives from plaster walls easily? This wallpaper is still well attached with only very minimal peeling along the seems.
Should paint colors coordinate from room to room? And how much is fair price?
Posted by: | CommentsI’m getting my house painted. I just received a quote. The guy told me 1 color was nice. Said others were nice 2, but wouldn’t coordinate w/ main color. The colors are Sherwin Williams Quixotic Plum as an accent wall in the family room and Mystic Mauve on the other walls. The main areas would be Latte. That’s where he said the clash is coming.
This is how downstairs flows: Entry way to a 2 story foyer Immediately in front of you on right, stairs. To the left formal area – living & dining. From that room, or a hall, you come to the kitchen w/ a bay eat in. All those wall will be in Latte. Then you come to the family room. The wall facing you will be Quixotic Plum. The others will be Mystic Mauve. His suggestion is to do it Latte and do the other formal room QP. (no furniture yet – wanted the formal red).
What is y’all opinion? Is $1000 +200 4 paint bad? I’d say it’s 1300 sq ft area – plus upstairs hall. The trim would be white – said cheaper to touch up stairrail.
P.S.:
Mystic Mauve is a grayish-lavender – not pink @ all. Quixotic is a dark plum w/ a bluish-gray base. Latte is the color of the drink.

Posted by: | CommentsWe are going to be replacing the old laminate flooring in our house but underneath what is already there is uneven wood flooring.
