What do i do if my Solicitor Has Lost my Conveyancing File ?

I suspect my Uk solicitor of baldly advising me . I have asked for my conveyancing file ( which i am entitled to have )….. My problem is that after 7 weeks of asking for this file the solicitor says he has ” Lost It “… What Can I Do Next ???

I am writing a dissertation on electronic conveyancing in the UK and am looking for a system to compare it to that is already up and running (or very near introduction)
A commonwealth country would be preferable but any will do.
Definition: conveyance carried out by electronic means where all communication between parties is carried out by email, draft contracts are signed and exchanged electronically etc

Conveyancing question – UK only?

I have a dodgy landlord and need some advice. I am a homeowner.
The property which I live in has been separated into two flats. I only have an old copy of the buildings insurance which is for the original address and is in the Landlords name only. Should it not be in the homeowners names considering we are the ones paying it each year. Should he give us a copy of the renewed buildings insurance (which both flats pay for) each year.
