Cheap house paint

My boyfriend is decorating his new house on the cheap so we have decided to paint the current built in wardrobes. Only problem is they have that gross shiny plastic surface that you used to get on cheap furniture in the early 90′s. How can I prime it and paint it properly? help!!

quick property sales

I found the perfect dream home fixer upper in the town I grew up in. I called this morning and the Realtor told me it just went under contract yesterday, that the bank had not yet accepted their bid, but they were legally obligated not to market the home to me.

I would really like to purchase this house, do I have any options?

Ideas I had:
1. Offer the current buyer under contract a sum of money to transfer the contract to me? For example, make a quick $20k by letting me buy it and not you.
2. Contact the lender directly and offer a higher price. Its a short sale and the lender would have to approve of any sale I assume and its in their interest to get the most $$? How would I do this?
3. Convince the seller to break their contract with the buyer and sell to me?

I dont prefer option #4 which is to hope the deal falls through.

thanks fo the answer – that makes alot of sense. So really the only legal option here is to work with the buyers agent for them to buy the house and then to turn around and sell to me afterwards? That way they could get a $20k markup or something. I am hoping the other person is an investor and a free 20k cant be too bad?

laminate flooring

I have a lab/retriever who is just over a year old and is hyper and runs around on the current flooring in the kitchen/hallway and 1/2 bath. I want to replace it with a new laminate floor. Is there a certain type/brand that hold up better with a pet in the house?

My mother in law past o’ way few months ago and my father in law can’t handle their rental property. He asked us to take it over and just pay him some cash so he can pay off his current house.
On the rental property they don’t own any money, paid off, bought it in 70′s for 112K and the value is now about 285K. He wants to have about 200K orless from myself and mywife (his doughter). What would be the best way to approach this, aprticularly that my mother in law past’o way in May. They have filed this property as rental type and I am assming they have probably deprciated for about 50K. Is it true that my father inLaw’s step up bases is 175K now and if he sales the property to us for that value than he won’t pay any taxes. So what is the best way to buy it from him or just have the tile tranfer to us. One other thing if he gives us this house as a gift can I than refinance give him a gift using our life gift value, not sure. Also I don’t want to pay any down payment, if purchasing it.

In the state of CA, if the owner of rental (single-family home) have to pay for the tentants moving expense. My landlord wants to sell the rental property to a family member, they have given us a 90 notice (verbal), but since give us a written notice back dated to April…the only reason they are selling the home is they can’t afford the up keep; we have lived in the home for 12 years and is current with the rent…it is a month to month lease. Are they partly or full responsible for my moving expense? If, so how does it work?
