How safe would be to rent in somebody’s house through Craigslist?

Since my school did not resolved my housing problem I will have to find a place to live quickly ( classes start Monday and driving will be insane I live about 100 miles away from school campus) I am looking some craigslist ads but I am not real sure if it would be safe to live in a stranger house. Do you have any recommendations?

So Our landlord passed away in 12/08 We rent the house. His sister said that the house is getting forclosed on, So what happens to us? She has no idea and told us to move out quickly. Any thoughts on this big mess?

I am thinking of improving the house I rent in FL to vacationers. Please tell me which improvements you think you’d like to find in a rental. We have AC, a pool, a full kitchen, DSL, cable TV with surround…
What about: outdoor whirlpool spa, canoe or kayak, 2 bicycles, outdoor kitchen (we now have a portable charcoal grill), heat for the pool, a supply of herbs and spices, a supply of soap and paper items?
Would these things influence your choice? Can you suggest other amenities?

Is there anyone want to rent a house in Beijing during the Olympic 2008?

I have a brand new house with 4 bedrooms,3 living rooms, and 3 bathrooms and a inner Japanese garden with a nature hot spring for rent during. Its area is about 3,030 sq ft.
It is only 25 minutes drive from the Olympic Green area.
It is a nice choice for a group people stay and work in Beijing or a family travel.

Is it better to rent an apartment or a house?

I am not in the position to buy a house or townhome just yet, so I still have to rent. I was thinking perhaps it may be a better idea to rent a HOUSE instead of an apartment in an apartment complex, etc., because at least in a house, its “stand alone” and I wont have to worry about neighbors stomping on my head, hearing their noise or being subjected to their bad habits that may disturb other tenants.
Am I right? Or are there disadvantages to renting a house as opposed to renting an apartment, that I am not aware of?
i cant exactly buy just now bcz of credit – my credit isnt good.

My hall-mates and I are looking to rent a house next school year and I was just wondering what types of questions should we go about asking the landlord and the realtor? We would like to have a list of questions to ask going into the meeting with everyone.

How do I Sell/Rent/Swap My House quickly?

We have to move because of job situations. There is no company relocation. I have it listed on all of the sites I have found ForSaleByOwner, Craigslist, Domuswap, OnlineHouseTrading, Sublet.com. We are hoping to sell it rather quickly which I know is very hard in todays market. We just bought it two years ago for about $257,000. We got 100% financing and can’t afford to take drastically less than we still owe on it. It is not foreclosed or any thing like that. We can still afford to make payments, it is just that my husband is gone all week and we would like to get a place where he works so we can be together. Any websites, advice, buyers
would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Thanks for the answer. Actually we have dropped the price already. We did upgrade a lot carpet, countertops, appliances, furnace, AC (some in the subdivision don’t even have one), Garage door & opener(again some don’t have them Crazy if you ask me), extended garage, basement, alarm system, and more I’m sure I forgot. Thanks, I really hope we are not stuck with a house no one will be living in soon…

ok if me and a couple of friends in college wanted to rent a house and split the costs, could that work? i only have a little credit and they don’t have any, would anyone even rent to us? and how could we protect ourselves if one person stopped paying their share?

Is it possible to rent out a house that you do not have access to?

My husband and I own a very nice beach house on the coast of Australia. We love it but only visit for a few weeks out of the year. We’d really like to rent the house out when we’re not there but since we live in the US it’s not really feasible for us to go there and take care of things between each person’s visit. Is there any way we could rent this house out?

the house was foreclosed on and put in sheriff sale. No bids were made. Would the owner be able to collect rent from a tenant even though the house was in foreclosure?

I have a house only 20 km far from the ?stanbul park arena.
I want to rent it only for people who will come here for formula racing.
It is a house with the garden and swimming pool. Consisted of 3 bedrooms and sofa with kitchen etc.

Hi, I have been living in a house for about 4 year on rent. I moved out, but I left some of my furnitures there (not big ones small desk and things like that), after i left, the landlord has been calling me and screaming at me that house is suppose to be clean when I leave. I thought it was her responsbility to clean up for the next person, is it not?

Most companies require someone to be at least 24 to rent a house for a week. Where can I find a house (or condo, etc.) if I’m not that old?
I’ve looked on sites that have rentals by owner but I’m a little iffy on these. Has anyone used them?

If you rent a house what utilities do you have to pay for?

I’m wondering if when you rent a house the owner pays any of the utilities or if it is the responsibility of the tenant. Do you have to mow your own yard and shovel your own snow? I’ve only rented apartments and not very familiar with the renting of a house.
