hire a steamer with a wallpaper stripper attachment. They hire them at places like B&Q for not too much money…
score the wallpaper, then hold the steam over each section, and it softens the adhesive and makes it easier to strip off…
make sure you have your windows open as the room gets very hot and steamy….

Either hire a decent steamer (well worth the money – gets job done in no time) the shop bought ones are crap, or ‘score’ the paper over and over with sharp tool then sponge soapy water over it, leave to soak in then scrape.
If you do hire the steamer be sure to ‘score’ the paper beforehand.

The answer about soapy water in a spray bottle works for me too, even on woodchip. I have a steam stripper, but have found that it can cause the plaster beneath it to bubble. I had to have two rooms replastered because of it, so be warned!

Depends on the paper and glue type. It’s been my experiences that the best way to both strip the wall paper, prep the wall and then paint or replace the wall paper is to hire a professional. Jeez stripping wall paper is miserable work.

I’ve heard that a fabric softener and water mixture will sometimes work–depends on the adhesive. Also, to make any substance more effective, scoring the paper first will help. Good luck. Wallpaper removal can often be an extremely frustrating chore.

i used to work in construction and sometimes we would need to remodel a room and we would need to strip the wallpaper of the wall and what we did was we took and sprayed down the wall really well with just plain water, let it soak in good and took putty knives and it came off pretty easy, a little messy but easy.
i hope it works if you give it a shot.

use a steam cleaner to loosen the paper the cheap cheat alternative is to use a steam iron but repeatedly boiling an electric kettle in the room works but not as well

A spray bottle with water and vinegar.. invest in a little roller that will poke holes in the wall paper .. rub it all over the wall paper .. spray with vinegar solution wait a couple minutes and start peeling off. works great we do this all the time in remodeling homes.

I’ve removed wallpaper without the stripper – it was in a bathroom. After steaming up the bathroom, I started peeling it a bit. What didn’t come off, I used a very damp rag, soaked the remaining wallpaper, then peeled it off. I also used a scrapper. Keep in mind, it a very messy job anyway you do it and you’ll need a lot of patience!

Spray bottle with warm water and a plastic scrapper.
