How to remove paint from the wall. I have stripped wallpaper off and there is dark brown paint underneath?
ByThe problem is a lot of the brown paint has come off in patches leaving white paint underneath. Is there a way I can easily remove the brown paint?

Sand it – thats the only way really. if its a large area, I’d hire or buy an electric one.

Why not just paint over it with a different color; Stripping paint off a wall can be an extremely dirty, messy, and time consuming job.
Check at your local paint stores for the best product for the job.
Or try online answers at the larger paint company’s.
Sherwin Williams; Brod Dugan. etc.

Strip it, it’s a pig of a job but once it’s done you know where you are. If you try to paint over it and find its some un-fast old grot that seaps through half a dozen coats you’ll be sorry.

well the problem with walls is that you cannot have them bleached or anything like that to remove paint instantly.. its a long process and sanding is the best thing if you have taken off the wall paper… sand it thoroughly and then you can have it painted in the color of your choice.
sanding is important as if its not done properly.. the new paint will not look good enough and it might have cracks in it..

Scape first, then sand & re-prime.

There is no good way to remove paint, trust me I know. I have a bathroom that the previous owned did their own sponge painting with hunter green paint on white walls. They got to much paint on the sponge so there were globs of paint all over the wall. You could sand but unless you have alot of time forget it. I tried it. You have to rent a heavy duty sander. If it left wholes you can patch and sand them then I recommend you use Killz from the hardware store and then paint or wallpaper. Good luck

I’d have to look at it to really know. You do different things in different situations. I might sand it all/ feather the edges with a palm sander and then use fine surface filler to fill up any differences or if it was thick oil-based paint I might hire a steam stripper and scrape it off. The main consideration is that if you leave any ony there is that is is soundly attached.
