pros and cons of painting over wallpaper compared to stripping it? How do you strip wallpaper from a wall?
ByWe would like to paint our hallway and it currently has silk flower wallpaper on it. Can we just prime it and paint over it or do we have to stripe it. the thing is we don’t know what type of wall is underneath the paper.
-Is it possible to do in one day? What is the process?

Removing the wallpaper can be a chore.
But it really is the right way to do it.
I like to use a wallpaper steamer as it softens the adhesive nicely and makes it very easy to remove completely.
You can do it in one day easily.
Now as to the condition of the wall underneath,
That’s impossible to say..

You can paint over it..But is the wallpaper embossed? If so than you would see the design even after painting it..it would just be the color of paint you choose..This can be done in 1 day.. As for stripping it.. Thats a tough job and if you just wanted to lightn it up or change the look to it then i would just paint it… Make sure there is no loose edges though and that it is in good shape to paint..If not then u may have no choice but to strip them. but without knowing what is underneath..hmmmmmmmmmm i would be cautious, be careful..You never know what others tried to hide with wallpaper ..Good luck
