Is it okay for me to contact a property owner and ask them if they would be willing to sell their property?
ByThere is a piece of property down the road from where I grew up that has been neglected and does not have anyone living on it. My family and I have always wondered who owned it since we never see anyone coming or going. I recently looked the property up through the Appraisal District and discovered that the property taxes have not been paid since 2004. Would it be intrusive for me to contact the owner and ask if they would be willing to sell this piece of property to me? How do I go about doing so?

It can’t hurt! You never know until you ask! I wouldn’t see it as intrusive.

Not a problem write them a letter or call them. I get letters all the time asking me to sell some vacant land, I throw them away because I don’t want to sell.
The owner may not pay the loan on the land either so it may not be worth what is owed. The owner could have died and the heirs didn’t know about it or didn’t think it was worth the taxes.
